Why did you decided to be a Governor?
I wanted to contribute to the local community and more importantly the children's education, I want to make a difference to the life chances of the children.
Why at St Luke's CE?
St Luke's was my school as a child and my parents before me, it holds very fond memories for me and a special place in my heart, to be part of the governing body means a lot.
Have you been or are you a governor anywhere else? (Do you have links with any other schools?)
What is the most rewarding thing about being a governor?
The sense of satisfaction knowing I'm involved in helping shape the future of all the children at the school.
What have you learnt from being a governor you didn't know before?
The structure of the school and how decisions are made
What has been the most challenging thing you've being involved with?
I organised a charity disco/Auction night a few years ago back and we had a lot of hurdles to get over but we made it a success raising over £3000 for Christies hospital
What's the most important thing about education/school to you?
That it sets the foundations in childrens lives giving them the springboard to be what they want to be.
What do/did you do as a career?
I'm an assistant court manager for a retirement housing scheme which offers extra care and supported living.
I also run my own health and wellbeing company from home.
What do you do with your spare time?
With two children I don't get much 'spare' time but I do like listening to music, reading and baking when I can
What was your time at School like?
What did you most enjoy/find hard? I loved my time at school. I especially enjoyed PE and art but I always found geography hard.
What subject did you enjoy most at Primary school? (Why?)
PE, I loved anything competitive and was captain of the girls netball team, rounders team and also played in the rugby team back in the day.
Who was your favourite teacher (why?)
'Mrs P' (and I'm not just saying that because she is head!) Year 6 with Mrs P was such an amazing year, of all the teachers she is the one I remember who made their mark on me. She was firm but kind and made learning so much fun.
What's your favourite Colour? (Why?)
Blue, I love sky blue as in the title it reminds me of bright blue sky on a summers day and that makes me smile.
What's your favourite film? (Why?)
My all time favourite has to be 'Dirty Dancing'. I remember watching this as as child and wishing I could dance like 'Baby'. Although we had a good time trying. Now I watch it with my daughter and she tries to do the dances too. Its a real feel good film.
