Personal Development
Personal Development at St Luke’s CE is both a subject and a school ethos. It is reflected in our school mission statement “Nurturing the individual as part of a caring and sharing community” and motto “Learning for Life.” It is embedded in our school values – FAITH – WISDOM – ASPIRATION – COMPASSION – COMMUNITY. We want children to leave our school feeling confident, proud, and unique.
Our aim is to teach children how to navigate through life safely, happily, and healthily. Children are growing up in a world that is constantly changing and it is the duty of all the staff at school in partnership with the parents to teach the children transferable life skills. We teach children about the world around them, relationships, emotions, reproduction, and health, as well as transferable skills to help with life.
At St Luke’s CE we have defined Personal Development into 5 areas to ensure our pupils have good overall development to enable them to progress into their next stage of education:
- Mental Wellbeing
- Physical Wellbeing
- Cultural Capital - (Essential knowledge and experiences children need to prepare them for their future success.)
- Positive Relationships
- SMSC and British Values
Below is an overview of the offer for Personal Development within each area.
