Phonics Screener
At the end of Year 1, all children take part in a Phonics Screener which is set by the government.
Each child reads a selection of 40 real and nonsense words containing all of the sounds they have covered in Reception and Year 1.
For the last few years, the pass mark has been 32/40, although this can be changed by the government.
